I served as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Cherry Hill, New Jersey Mission. I taught in the Spanish language and switched to English my last transfer. I entered the MTC March 29, 2006 and left for home October 18, 2007. It was the best experience for me and has continued to help me as I remember the lessons I learned.
First Area: Woodstown, New Jersey
My greenie are was Woodstown, NJ. We opened the area for Spanish teaching, which means there were no previous missionaries that taught Spanish there. My trainer was Hermana Patricia Dodderer. She only trained me for 2 weeks and then there was an emergency transfer and my new companion was also a greenie! We greenie busted each other. Her name is Hermana Sarah Wheeler Alred. She and I had one baptism together. We started a Spanish class for our English ward.
I served in this area for 3 transfers.
Second Area: Absecon, NJ
In this area, we attended a branch that was a block from the ocean and was located in Atlantic City, the casino city. I served with Hermana Nikki Leeper Hansen. After one transfer together, Hermana Leeper went home due to some medical problems. My next companion was also an emergency transfer, and her name is Hermana Angie Turner. She was being switched to Spanish work, so I helped her learn the language.
I served in this are for 2 transfers.
Third Area: New Brunswick, NJ
My third area brought me up north to the city life of New Brunswick. My companion here was Hermana Dani Johnson Price. She and I were doubled into the area, which means that we were both new to the area and had to learn everything about the investigators and members. We lived in a skyrise on the 8th floor. We had a lot of trials during our two transfers together, but we were blessed to meet two people who desired to be baptized.
I was in this area for 2 transfers.
Fourth Area: Woodstown again!
The Lord called me back to Woodstown, and I became companions with Hermana Charlotte Henningson Long. She would become the reason I came to Ephraim, Utah to attend Snow College after the mission. We shared a baptism together and worked really hard getting rid of eternals. Her last transfer she was transferred out and my new companion was Hermana Audrey Morrill Rose. We were together for one week before we had an emergency transfer and Hermana Angie Turner came into our companionship making us a threesome. It was difficult at first, but having 3 into a companionship had a lot of its perks. We were able to share 2 baptisms together.
I served in this area for another 2 transfers.
Fifth Area: Princeton, NJ
A university town was my last area. I loved Princeton very much. My new companion was Sister Lacey Woolley Bangerter. She was an English sister and we were called to do work in both English and Spanish areas. Sister Woolley did not know Spanish, so I taught her as best as I could. We were both very busy! I worked so hard in this area trying to do work in both areas. I made some lasting friendships with the elders and it was a good area to die in.
